|Using the Prescribed Music List
The new On Line Version of the UIL Prescribed Music List offers a variety of search options and other features designed to assist directors and students as they access the PML Database. The current list is in effect for school years beginning 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
SUBSTITUTION OF UNLISTED EDITIONS FOR SELECTIONS IN THE PML
Any unabridged edition by a current copyright holder of a selection appearing in the PML may be substituted. The director of the performing organization shall be responsible for providing verification that the substitute edition is unabridged.
This field includes a drop down menu that will link you to any event contained in the PML.
In this field you can retrieve content from a specific list or a specific title depending on the characters you enter. For example entering 202 and selecting "begins with" from the drop down menu you can retrieve the entire flute list. Entering 202-1, 202-2 or 202-3 will limit the search to Class 1, Class or Class 3. Entering the entire unique number (i.e. 202-1-12345) for a selection will retrieve that single title.
Use this field to search by title. The drop down menu offers the options of "includes", "matches" or "begins with".
The drop down menu allows you to select titles by Grade (Class I, Class II, etc.).
ARRANGER and COMPOSER
Use these fields to search by arranger and/or composer. The drop down menu offers the options of "includes", "matches" or "begins with".
Enter the name of a publisher (the name, not the abbreviation) and you can retrieve all titles on the list by that specific publisher. The pull down menu "includes", "matches" or "begins with" can be used to limit your search.
The searches here are almost limitless. For example limit the search to Class I Percussion Ensembles using the appropriate fields and then enter "temple blocks" in the specifications field. The search will result in a list of all Class I Percussion Ensembles that require marimba.
Or, limit the search to Class I Madrigals using the appropriate fields and then enter "SSATB" in specifications. This will give you a list of all Class I Madrigals that include that voicing.
Note: Abbreviations are used for some specifications. Click (abbreviations) just below the Specification Search Fields to view a list of abbreviations.
This page will list all selections based on the search criteria submitted. Other features on this page include:
